Kahawa Downs

In December 2013, EADB approved a loan of KES 620 million to Kahawa Downs to co-finance the development of a 220 unit residential estate and its supporting infrastructure.

EADB is delighted to support the Kenyan government in alleviating the Kenyan housing deficit. It is estimated that an additional 200,000 new homes are required per annum in Kenya to meet the growing population. Kahawa Downs not only provides more residential opportunities to middle-income households, but has also upgraded the area through providing better road access, street lighting, drainage and security. The project is expected to generate employment creation to run the facility and increase government revenue via rent payments.
