PUBLIC NOTICE - SOCIAL MEDIA FRAUD ALERT

PUBLIC NOTICE - SOCIAL MEDIA FRAUD ALERT

Friday, November 29, 2024
Kampala, Uganda.

The East African Development Bank (“EADB” or “Bank”) is alerting the public to a fraud scheme on social media and certain websites that aims to steal money from individuals by offering fake scholarships and other opportunities. The fraudulent call “for applications” requires applicants to pay an application fee.

EADB hereby informs the general public that it has not established any scholarship program in these terms and is not soliciting applications or receiving payments in that regard. The Bank will not request any monetary payments from applicants at any stage of the recruitment or scholarship award process.

Members of the public are hereby advised to note that any communication or correspondence through social media or other media offering business contracts, scholarships, interviews or employment, and requesting payment on behalf of the Bank, is fraudulent and does not originate from EADB.

Anyone who receives these false solicitations is strongly advised to disregard them in their own interest, or report to the nearest law enforcement agency.

Available opportunities are listed on the Bank’s website: www.eadb.org .
